September is a time of fresh starts and renewal for many people. We look forward to the changing foliage but do hope for an “Indian Summer” regarding the weather. The Social Circle is excited about the 60th Anniversary magazine they are preparing, and it will be ready in time for the celebration on Sunday, September 21st. Please RSVP to Marilynn Schneider at 201-259-7168 or to Harriet Greenholtz at 973-467-2417 by September 6th if you have not previously responded to Michelle. Also, it is time to renew your Social Circle Membership of $60. Write a check made out to the Claridge House One Social Club and place under the door of Membership Chair Lori Brown at apartment 604.

GORDON FREY LECTURE- INTERESTING EXHIBITS AT THE MET
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 15TH at 7p.m. in the Community Room. Gordon, a long-time docent at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, will show slides of some very unusual items that are his favorite.
TAYLOR WIECZERAK LECTURE -CLIMATE CHANGE & THE ENVIRONMENT

A Claridge House One resident, Taylor is a Research Scientist at the N.J. Department of Environmental Protection.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 31st A HAPPY HOUR SPECIAL HALLOWEEN CELEBRATION IS BEING PLANNED. Due to limited seating, Social Circle members will be given first option of making reservations prior to opening it up to the general population at Claridge House One.
SCHEDULED SEPTEMBER ACTIVITIES
SOCIAL CIRCLE COMMITTEE MEETING – Thursday, September 4th at 10:30 a.m. in the Community Room. If unable to attend, call Marilynn Schneider to provide pertinent information.
WRITING CLUB – Monday, September 8th at 7 p.m. in the Community Room.
Participants are encouraged to write a short piece emphasizing the character traits of a particular person, pet, or object. Think of a character description in literature and “make” your character come to “life” for the reader or listener. Sandy Gambal will lead this activity.
BOOK CLUB – There will be no scheduled meeting this month due to the Jewish Holiday starting the evening of September 22nd. The selection is “Disobedient” by Elizabeth Fremantle. It is a riveting novel based on the life of Artemisia Gentileschi, the greatest woman painter of the Renaissance. The book will be reviewed and discussed at the October meeting.
CURRENT EVENTS – Monday, September 29th at 7 p.m. in the Community Room.
This month’s topic is “Artificial Intelligence and How it Affects Our Lives.” Anne Givner and Rod Borden will lead the discussion.
